This policy explains how UNC ("we", "our", "us") uses cookies and comparable technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage and similar device storage — on unctech.co and its subdomains, and within the UNC mobile app.
It sits alongside our privacy policy, which describes personal data more broadly.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your device on later visits. Similar mechanisms such as localStorage do much the same job. Cookies set by us are "first-party"; cookies set by another domain loaded on our pages are "third-party".

Where enabled, these help us understand which pages are used so we can improve them. We use them in aggregate; we do not use them to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell the data.
We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for consent first where the law requires it.
Some features rely on outside providers that may set their own cookies when their content loads. These include Google Play services and Firebase for push notifications and crash reporting. Their use of data is governed by their own policies, which we do not control.
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, and offers a private browsing mode that discards them when you close the window.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you from staying signed in, and parts of the site will not work. On mobile, clearing the app's storage through your device settings removes the equivalent data and signs you out.
Beyond any controls we offer, your browser gives you the final say, and those settings apply to every site you visit rather than only this one. Every major browser lets you view the cookies currently stored, delete them individually or in bulk, block third-party cookies, and block cookies from specific sites. The controls generally sit under Settings, in a section named Privacy, Privacy and security, or Cookies and site data.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies and site data when you close it. That is a reasonable option if you would rather not leave anything behind on a shared or public device, though it does not make you anonymous to the sites you visit while the window is open.
It is worth knowing what blocking costs you. Cookies that keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and protect against certain classes of attack are doing useful work, so blocking all cookies everywhere tends to break sign-in flows and forms across the web rather than only reducing tracking. Blocking third-party cookies specifically removes most cross-site tracking while leaving ordinary functionality intact, which is why it is the setting most browsers now apply by default.
If you clear cookies for this site, anything stored on your device about your session or preferences is removed, and you will be treated as a new visitor the next time you arrive. Nothing about your UNC account itself is affected, because your account lives on the network rather than in a cookie.
We will update this page when our use of cookies changes, and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email where appropriate.
